Calibrating Bars: The Power of Training Partners

I know the difference between someone with a great training weight on the bar and someone who is sandbagging. When I looked across the yard in a recent Sunday Service session, I noticed not one but two different groups with three students all training the same load for RDLs.

The funny thing was it was the perfect training weight for everyone.

With the context of these students all having different backgrounds and training ages, I can say that what struck me was simple:

  • Everyone has become stronger in their time here, and

  • Training partners matter.

The group of guys and the group of gals respectively had grown together to a degree that they were calibrating on newfound strength. As much as we’d love to claim that our program is just so brilliant and the coaching here is so powerful that this calibration was a coincidence, it’s not

Training alone is hurting your progress. Get a buddy and thoughtfully grow together.
