We’ve Reached Consensus on Disconnection, Still No Changes

“I mean with the cell phones,” they’ll say. “And, the social media.. We’re just getting so disconnected.” That exact sentence will be said out loud all around the world today (and tomorrow).

That’s because we’re all in agreement.

We are disconnected and we’re addicted to our phones. The isolation has countless trickle down effects and none of them are good. Yet, there seems to be no change in sight.

What gives?

Part of the issue is that we’re boarding on falling into a collective illusion, which are phenomena where groups act against their own interest based on the false assumption that it’s the collective’s ideal. We think people don’t want to be bothered, so we don’t.

We all want what we aren’t getting: connection. So, we need someone to say, “Dinner is on for Thursday at 7.”

Will it be you?
