The full picture of health isn’t found in the mirror and in your training log. I’ve spoken often in the past of the nuance of what can and can’t see from any outward look at your fitness.
While I don’t identify as an athlete, I do maintain fairly high levels of physical capacity and have a well above average management of my nutrition. That said, I’ve been dealing with a project with my health that is hidden to the naked eye with my physician.
I’ve got an under performing thyroid.
And, we only know that because of regular bloodwork that we’ve been using to monitor it. The beauty is that we’re able to address it and improve this issue with supplements and interventions that meet my values. But, the point of discussing this is that I wouldn’t have this insight if I wasn’t looking at my complete health image.
Now, my life isn’t in danger because of my thyroid issue, but I’m not sure about you but low energy levels and lower metabolism make the life of an entrepreneur harder, not easier. And, what’s scary is that more chicken breast and front squats wouldn’t have addressed this issue.
When you’re introspecting on your fitness try to find data points in areas you might normally be blind to. Take a closer look! Do a DEXA scan. Do some blood panels. See a holistic doctor you trust or your general physician.
