For twenty-two years, I’ve found myself training strength and conditioning at an above average level. From NCAA and MLB weightrooms to what would become DEUCE Gym, the basic training styles and consistency has been mostly the same. Sure, there have been seasons of more and less intensity and volume, but none of those really seem to correlate with how my body looks.
My body changed only when I ate for it to change.
In college, I put on 52 much needed pounds. That was accomplished by an uncomfortable commitment to consuming calories. When I wanted to lean out as a non-athlete adult human, I ate for a sub-ten-percent bodyfat percentage. Then, later when training for Strongman Nationals I needed to get up to 231lbs as best as I could, I ate (and drank lots of raw goat milk) for it.
My hypothesis for you is if you want to change your body, you’ll need to eat for it.
