The long winding road to where we are today is a story as long as it is interesting. In April of 2011, the park program began briefly on El Medio Dr. in the Pacific Palisades. Coach Jun was a student for workouts that would likely make you chuckle.
Over the next two and a half years, the program moved to Palisades Park in Santa Monica and our obvious constraints (i.e. no address, no walls, poor equipment) forged our strengths (i.e. a unique coaching experience, a firehose of genuine humanity, a daily educational blog, and our ability to create context context context).

Eventually, our dream of one day becoming a ‘real gym’ became true when we stumbled upon the garage at 110 Lincoln Blvd. in 2013. From there a series of better-to-be-lucky-than-good events helped propel us into some recognition and business success. Our relentless process oriented culture and commitment to coaches’ development didn’t hurt.
We’ve been through births, weddings, and funerals.
Some faces are still the same, but most have changed many times over. All along DEUCE has always pushed forward as a place that would be aspirational to those who visited it.

The Hold the Standard™ model for development and our strong beliefs in shared leadership have been a constant mirror to us to improve and somehow manage the dissatisfaction of having not yet finishing “overcoming the gap between who we are and what we could be.”
If you’re reading this far into the article, DEUCE has likely benefited from your contributions to our mission and I hope it has contributed back to you ten fold. We’re committed to learning ourselves and getting better at getting better and we invite you along for the ride.

Join us tomorrow for a birthday celebration with casual hangs that are both pet friendly and open to friends and family. We will have a normal schedule, pizza, cold drinks, and a cornhole tournament!

Thank you for making a wild dream come true. DEUCE has truly transcended whatever it means to run a gym and that’s just the way we like it. Thank you!
