UPDATE: End Quad Dominance Still Relevant

I got a message from a gym owner the other day asking about the back stock of a shirt we produced about a decade ago. The front of the shirt was a rebellious fist in the air with the following copy:

“End quad dominance.”

While tongue-in-cheek, the statement is a passionate one amongst strength coaches. Hence, the gym owner reached out for more.

You see, most adults are quad dominant. Or, said more accurately: hamstring weak. We tend to have under-developed posterior chain musculature (largely because developing the rear change takes a specific focus and without following a program, most adults wouldn’t think to prioritize something they can’t see in the mirror.

While the hamstrings might not ever get the public relations influence that the glutes or biceps have, their importance cannot be underscored enough. Our friend, Damon, in the image above got the memo and is training his rear chain with the classic kettlebell swing in DEUCE Gym’s GPP (General Physical Preparedness) program.

Smart man.
