Why Does the Personal Reality Dominate Our Shared Experience

With the growing intrigue in altered states, meditation, psychedelics, and the study of human consciousness, humans are accessing the shared reality more than ever. In fact, from a mathematical perspective, most of what we know to exist is “out there” as opposed to in our little heads.

Yet, where do we spend all of our time?

The absolute maddening obsession we have with our own thoughts and perceptions drowns out any chance for understanding the magnitude of the shared reality. As long as our personal reality has main character energy, it seems like coming into balance will be slow (if ever).

It does bring hope when edgy podcasts like The Telepathy Tapes shakes the zeitgeist a bit with a nudge toward some attention toward the shared reality aspects of our experience. Without much of a dog in the fight of what happens if we do or don’t begin to focus on the shared reality instead of just our personal reality, I’ll offer this:

If most of “what is” exists outside ourself, it would be most wise to concern ourselves there, too.
