Two words cut me deep. I was asking my mentor and coach about some candid observations about my struggles to develop intimate relationships. The two words were: work avoidance.
I won’t share the totality of our conversation, but the part of the message that resonated with this concept of work avoidance. I see it in myself (and obviously so did she in this category of my life) and I see it in others. So, let’s talk about it…
Generally, we’ve all got some “work avoidance” going on in our development (or lack there of). One common observation I have when I observe this in myself and others is that we tell stories to help avoid the work.
What’s your story?
Most people embody the victim role to support their avoidance. Shout out to those clenching onto that victim mentality for dear life. You can find out your story when you look at how you offload another important developmental question, “How am I responsible for my own suffering?”
If you can answer that question, then you can start to get to work.
Good luck.
