You know the dynamic. “Never meet your heroes” is a figure of speech created by people who looked up to someone, eventually met them, and were let down.
Don’t anticipate being let down.
Sure, we need to treat people like the humans they are and elevating people past that human level is likely a bad idea, but I truly believe that if you’re discerning enough and looking at transcendent qualities of people that they will likely surprise you with how incredible they are.
Naturally, I’m writing this from a biased perspective.
Rarely do I find people that I admire or look up to, but in the times that I have and was blessed enough to build a friendship with that person, I’ve only been happy to meet them in a way that exceeded my every expectation.
Pick the right hero and pray to God you’ll one day meet them.
