A Surprising Fact About Those Who Read the DEUCE Blog

In 2017, I found myself standing in a room full of strangers in Spain. At the time, DEUCE was gaining a cult following, mostly among gym owners, because how we were doing things seemed to resonate with the industry. We’re known in those circles for coach development and a unique spin on the classic micro-gym business model. 

At one point in my presentation, the concept of marketing and creating value came up and I tried something risky. I asked the room how many of them had read at least one of the DEUCE Blog articles. 

I had a point to make. 

But, it wouldn’t have worked if no one raised their hands. To my surprise, everyone raised their hands. That wasn’t my point. 

My next question was simple, “Keep your hand up if you read the blog every day.” Every hand went down, but I anticipated that. This was my point. I said to the room “you all said you’ve been to the blog at least once and I have an assumption about you.” I followed, “Tell me if I’m wrong, but I’d bet that whether you go to the site or not, you know that if you did there would be something interesting there for you to read, right?” 

No one disagreed. 

There is remarkable value in being counted on no matter what. It’s the stringing together of a thousand days that contextually creates this bonus value that is greater than the sum of its parts. 

Trust me… there are a ton of great reasons to skip a day on this blog because some (correction: most) people won’t read it. But, that’s not the point.
