Why Does Every Staff Member at DEUCE Have a No-Limit AMEX Card?

This is a small, but important part of a high agency, low excuse-making culture. You see, in low performance environments responsibility is outsourced.

This generally creates a dynamic where when things are good plenty of teammates are ready to take credit. (They say if you ask a team of any size what percentage each person believes he/she contributes to the total success, you’ll get a number around 300%.) However, in these low performance teams, when things are going poorly blame is cast everywhere but Self. 

Leadership is a high agency, high accountability existence. 

When a DEUCE teammate needs to get something done that costs money, they have the autonomy to do it. They can’t outsource responsibility because they can take action themselves. In addition, this forces responsible choices. After all, when you make your own free choices it’s less likely that it can be someone else’s fault. 

Sure, this means people on our team make mistakes or “poor choices,” but that’s a small price to pay for an ownership culture rather than a follower culture.
