I didn’t recognize it was a Bible reference until later, but we used to say this all the time in the University of San Diego baseball program. The intention of the saying was that we were acknowledging the magic that becomes possible in the collective experience.
We knew anything was possible with our group.
And, there’s some human knowing, I believe, that knows we’re meant for connection. We’re not meant to go at it alone. And, while it might seem trivial in the grand scheme of things, training works the same way.
I see folks come to DEUCE for the community experience all the time. Then, sometimes the focus shifts to an individual training experience. In an effort to train “better” they train alone and almost always this degrades their performance and the quality of their experience.
Unless you’re a unique personality whose cup is full of human connection, keep the magic that happens “when two or more are gathered” at all costs.
