You Can’t Cardio Your Way Out of a Power Problem

I’ll say it. We’ve over indexed on cardiovascular fitness. How do we know?

There are many more people that could run a mile than could jump on a 20 inch box.

One’s ability to express power (like jumping) is a hard earned fitness quality that supports so many positive outcomes in the gym and outside of it. This is especially important when men and women cannot express power well and, specifically, have no strategy to build this capacity.

Training speed and power takes courage. And, it’s not the kind of courage you think. These training modalities don’t have to be scary or dangerous to develop. But, it does require being willing to train with incredible, nearing illogical bouts of rest.

If your default training pattern is to do long, slow extended efforts, I’m looking at you.
