First of all, what a hilarious suggestion that this be easy. But, stay with me. Fitness, being fit, and maintaining a movement practice is far from easy in a modern world.
That said, here’s the real truth.
The easy thing for humans to do is to stay in the same routines. So, theoretically, this whole fitness thing can be… easy?
The hard part is becoming the kind of person who is fit. Fitness comes easily after that.
What I mean is that I think most people would have unimaginable success by lowering the stakes and lowering their expectations of training. If most new gym goers changed their sights from losing big weight and putting up big numbers and shifted them toward just being in the gym as a small-part-of-a-big-life and showed up, did the thing, and left without putting it on a pedestal, it might help make three days a week of strength training routine and normal.
Once this happens, you’ve kicked the snowball down the hill.
And, from then on, you not only don’t have to worry about getting fit. You make it impossible to ever not be fit. This is the ultimate power shift in fitness. In the beginning, it will feel like nothing is happening, but five or six years in it will be impossible to not be fit.
That’s easy fitness living (after the hard part)!
