Ask Your Doctor If Movement is Right For You

Strength coaches are too close to the action. I get it. But, maybe for a moment we can break the fourth wall and shine some light on this idea of “movement pessimism” that permeates our culture.

Normalizing fear around movement is despicable.

Plain and simple, humans are afraid of that which they don’t understand (SEE: racism). This basic premise is how a world-view that says strength training is for some bodies but not others can exist. It’s comical that people can say things like, “I tried it and it just doesn’t work for my body,” while the three other people at the dinner table nod and agree.

Fuck that.

Imagine the dissonance and lack of personal responsibility to assume that basic hinging, squatting, pushing, and pulling is the problem, but it’s not your issue. We’ve got to be better, people.
