I Googled What My Friend’s Tattoo Meant (and the World Opened Up)

I kept seeing those three letters. It showed up in a friend’s Instagram handle, another coaching friend had a tattoo, and a week later I saw it on a shirt. Still I had no idea what “PMA” meant..

The thing is that all of these sightings were a bit edgy.

The people it was tattooed on and the shirts and everything were connected to great people, but the through line, in this case, was Hardcore Music. Now, if you Google the origins of PMA, you’ll see that Napoleon Hill gets credit for his legacy text, Think and Grow Rich.

It seems that the screaming lyrics of Hardcore Music also found the meaning of life. The friends who reference PMA in my life tend to be some of the most incredible, honorable people, so I looked it up.

“Positive Mental Attitude” is what PMA is talking about and suddenly it all made perfect sense.

Yesterday, I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts and three entrepreneurs were bantering about business ideas. I don’t really think the specific ideas are worth mentioning here, but I realized that the ground floor common characteristic between the three guys on the show was a basic positive outlook. PMA seems to be the unlock for all things if you think about it.

If you are pessimistic and negative, there’s no sense in being creative, no sense in building anything, and there’s definitely no sense in trying new things.

Maybe before we prioritize anything we might want to prioritize PMA!
