
The single greatest thing you can know in the gym is specifically what you can and cannot do.
Think about it.
If you’re loading your barbell with weights that are 10% lighter than you could, you’re leaving massive gains on the table. Conversely, if you over index on what you think you can do, you’ll miss lifts that will leave untapped volume on the table in the strength session. The same ego in conditioning efforts will decrease intensity because you’ve chosen skills and loads that slow you down, which will rob you of metabolic challenge.
Your number one job in the gym, then, is to build self-awareness. The more truthfully you learn what you’re capable of, the more you’ll get out of every workout you do!
