The desire to master something implies the willingness first to be a student. The willingness to be a student implies the willingness, maybe even the desire, to fail.
In the arena, failure is nothing but feedback necessary to future success.
The future of strongman sport belongs to those who choose to become students of Olympic Weightlifting.
A lot of people on the internet claim that Weightlifting is not for everyone. They cite anthropometric limitations or say that the technical nature of the practice and the specificity it demands require a dedication out of reach for the general population.
I often wonder if these people can snatch their body weight or remember ever being a beginner at anything.
At its core, Weightlifting requires two things:
- The ability to jump and land
- The ability to control an external object (the barbell)
I’ve yet to meet anyone, willing to try, incapable of some version of the above.
Weightlifting is for everyone.
