Despite Being No One’s Preference, Nothing Trumps Voracious Reading

I’ve said it once. I’ve said it a million times. Using preferences as your guide will rarely lead you to what you want in life. After all, who prefers Bulgarian split squats or heavy paused front squats or anaerobic conditioning?

Well, this isn’t just a fitness related blog, so here’s my semi-related rant. Attention spans are at an all-time low. I get it. The only kind of content that’s easier to consume than videos are short videos. (SEE: TikTok and Reels)

I had to Google the quote and who said it (Lemony Snicket), but here goes nothing:

“All the secrets of the world are contained in books.”

While it might be out of fashion these days and rarely one’s preference, I still can’t find a good reason to not be a voracious reader. Want to learn? Read. Want to write better? Read. What to articulate better? Read. Want to conquer public speaking? Read.
