Push Up Apathy

Us egomaniac human beings can’t wait to care about the fancy stuff. Meanwhile, it takes a monumental commitment to excellence to even bat an eye at the simple stuff. For example, it’s easy to get around the table and talk about which snatches you made and which ones you missed. But, no one wants to have a cup of coffee and talk about the push up.

“We’re so past that!”

Are we? I’d beg to differ. Virtually 100% of students perceive that they are more masterful than they actually are (especially in the most basic movements), which leave a whole lot of people wanting to improve their snatch or hand stand walking skills with no real regard for the true basics.

Today you’ll have an opportunity to zero in on a basic, gym class staple – the push up. Most of us have a long way to go with even a basic movement like this, so let us treat it that way.
