Light at the end of the tunnel

No person was immune to the Groundhog Day feeling. If by some chance, the stars aligned in your life such that every day was new and exciting and linear progress is all you know, congratulations. Covid-19 likely forced its hand on those rare few, which leaves us with all of humanity relating to a feeling that can arise. This feeling, of course, is stagnation. It’s the mundane.

It’s that I’m-busting-my-ass-and-getting-nowhere rut.

Part of the perceived suffering that comes from these situations is that it seems like one more minute, hour, or day couldn’t possibly make a drastic impact on your situation. The logic seems sound because if the last 100 or 500 similar days haven’t yielded a result, why would this one?

There’s good news, however.

The good news is that there are tipping points in life. Life is an infinite game that isn’t anything but linear. Life can be scalable beyond the understanding of our sometimes regressive thinking. Massively popular examples help like that of J.K. Rowling, who in 1990 conceived the idea of Harry Potter. The first book wouldn’t be published (only 1,000 copies) until 1997. The rites to the book wouldn’t be purchased until 1998. Eight years of groundhog day, despair, and poverty hit a tipping point to the tune of Rowling’s emergence as the world’s first billionaire author.

If you’re in the rut of the mundane, let the magic of tipping points immunate the end of the tunnel for you. If you’re going to grind, the very least you can do for yourself is grind in a way that contributes to a cause susceptible to a tipping point you can’t yet see.

Keep going.
