Settings for Victory

We have a ton of control over our existence. Our environments, on the other hand, often don’t get a lot of credit for shaping our behavior. Missing the impact of our environment could mean missing a significant driver in the outcomes you face in your life.

When you think about your physical surrounding on a minute by minute basis, I want you to think about which ways those surroundings are tugging you and everyone else in them. Given one completely succumbed to his/her environment, what outcomes would this person surely face? Chances are you are experiencing shades of this exaggerated existence.

If you’re setting doesn’t match your story book existence, achieving those outcomes are going to be much more difficult. Wanting health but living in a party environment are obviously at odds, unless you’re in it. Wanting to be productive and creative but being surrounded by distraction and haste are obviously at odds, as well, unless you’re in it. Sometimes we just can’t tell, because you’re in it.

Take inventory on the traffic you sit in, the friends you spend the most time with, the desk you work at, and the other ecosystems your exposed to. It might be time to expose yourself to more helpful settings.
