Physical Fitness and the Brain

You know that feeling when your training gets off track for a few weeks and you don’t feel like you’re running on all cylinders? Well, this common occurrence might have more to it than just a feeling. Science is beginning to show that this mind body connection may be more significant than we’ve ever expected. CF Test Prep Final

Harvard Medical School clinical professor Dr. John Ratey’s notorious text, Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain addresses fitness and its cognitive benefits with real tangible science. The text opens with the incredible improvement story of a public high school in Naperville, IL that experimented with first period physical education classes with math and science courses immediately following that later went on to break state records in test scores in both subjects.

By challenging the body physically we develop faster, stronger synapses in the brain that promote cognitive performance, clearer thinking, and increased focus.

In that way, our CrossFit Test Prep program has just three spaces left for high school aged children looking to improve their SAT and ACT test scores. This dual program will marry strength and conditioning with scalable standardized test taking strategies and skills sessions.
