Squats and Beer

None of this makes sense. We’re a gym, but there is no building. We’re obsessed with fitness, yet we’re all normal looking men and women. We research and preach the intricacies of human nutrition, yet we drink beer together. What’s the deal?

It’s simple. We work hard, cry, sweat, bleed, breathe, bitch, moan, laugh, complain, and share with each other. Win, lose, or draw, it’s always an us thing. Or, a it’s we thing. We’re a community. All the squats, running, push ups, and intervals are just structure. Fitness is simply the conversation. It’s the flavor of this particular family and it’s raw.

The point is, though, that we are a family. We’ve been through it all, and we’re going to keep going through more of it. Great days and miserable ones. There will be hurt feelings, joy, gossip, lies, personal bests, improvement, failure, and a whole lot of tough love. Heck, we all don’t even like each other. But, just like it’s important to squat heavy, it’s also important to get around a table and drink beer together.
