Safe in Suffering

It’s no secret life can get pretty rough. We all get dealt rough cards now and then. There is no avoiding such events, but we all can find our own safe place right in suffering. Spending some quality time with a barbell can help ground you. Spending some quality time hammering out some calories on a rower can really bring you right back to a place of calm, and what seems to be control. You see, there are a whole lot of things that we will never have control over, but you are damn well in control of your ability to train. I have watched countless athletes come into the gym in a tizzy and leave cool as a cucumber. You may not be able to change your situation, but you can sure change yourself.

Suffering on your own schedule gives quite a sense of accomplishment. Use this tool of training to your advantage. Enjoy a little bit of suffering, enjoy some sweat, and some heavy squats. It sure makes the day seem quite a bit easier.

Enduring adversity makes for a strong soul. Enduring the rigors of physical training goes hand in hand with personal development and self actualization. You pick the method. Just move your body and stress the tissues. In order to build capacity of our tissues, we need to stress them. Our bodies are made to move, and truly begin to come into their own when we speak their language. Find what suits you and get after it. If that is us, fantastic. We will be here enjoying the suffering right along with you. The path of least resistance is really no path at all. Let us help you find path that has some resistance.
