One hundred percent of us have felt what it’s like to be new somewhere. You almost walk through the door curious about the reception you’ll receive. The first feelings you get about a place new are powerful feelings. You’re subconsciously trying to find out the answer to the question, “Does this feel safe?”

By now, you’re probably a savvy addition to the DEUCE Gym community, but every day people have their very first DEUCE Gym experience. Think about that. The courage that it takes for someone to see what we do here from a distance and still choose to walk through the gate to find out more can be extremely unnerving.

The point is, this is your house. When an unfamiliar face walks through the door, go greet them. Since it’s CrossFit Games week, you can expect more new faces than usual around here. Whether they are a famous CrossFit athlete or a curious neighbor interested in working out for the first time, help new faces have the welcoming experience you’d want to have when a guest comes over to your house.
