Eat Clean; Don’t Be an Idiot About It

Imagine this whether it’s true or not:

You’re starting to come around to eating for performance. Eating meat, fish, poultry, eggs, vegetables, some fruit, little start, plenty of fat, and no sugar has changed your life. You look better, you feel better, and you realized that though the meek, groggy, swollen feeling of eating grains and sugar became “normal,” that you don’t have to feel that way. Chances are if you are in this state of “clean” eating, it took some drastic changes in your life to get there.

Kenny is serious about food AND a little chocolate.

If this is you, a couple other things are probably true…

1. You feel like you’re moments away from a sugar-binge-relapse-type-thing at all times! (You were/are addicted to sugar, don’t under estimate that.)

2. Though your grateful for your better looking, feeling, and performing body– you aren’t sure how long you can “hold on.”

3. You look forward to cheat meals.

Regardless of what you want to convince yourself, you’re not immune to the nasty effects grains (especially gluten) has on your body. And unfortunately, we all are “lactose intolerant” on some level. Dairy means inflammation, 8-days a week. And lastly, sugar is sugar. Agave, honey, table sugar, high fructose corn syrup, cane sugar, sucrose, Sweet & Low, Splenda, Equal are all the same. It’s insulin. Period.

Here’s the deal, though. Eat clean. I believe we all have to. But, don’t be an idiot about it. Plain and simple.

Stock your house with real food. Cook meals. Choose wisely when eating out. But, go buy some great chocolate. Enjoy a glass of wine or four. Don’t refuse your buddy’s birthday cake, and for the love of God enjoy your food!

Amen.
