1/16/13 - Unconventional
Many folks would describe this program as unique, different, extreme, or unconventional. And though those things are true, I’d like to make a distinction here. We don’t seek novelty. We aren’t looking to stand out.
Our concern is performance.
If we happen to still fall under the distinction of unconventional training, so be it. I’d argue, however, that we are only unconventional where convention fails. If conventional training is what happens at Bally’s Total Fitness then, you’re right, we are unconventional. If counting calories and working to create caloric defect on a treadmill is conventional then we are, by all means, unconventional.
Squatting, pushing, pulling, running, jumping, and throwing seem pretty conventional to me, but then again, looking around one might begin to wonder. Unconventional or not, we’re going to continue with a program than increases human performance.
