[VIDEO] Celebrate Like Lani

How beautiful is that?

It’s pure excitement. We all have pride, you know? While Lani will tell you that her celebration dance is her unique signature, I beg to differ. It’s only unique in that it’s not a common occurrence in our lives. However, when virtually anyone experiences that satisfying moment of peak performance and a miraculous victory, they all do a rendition of Lani’s celebration.

Look familiar?

Look familiar?

In italian it’s called fiero. In Jane McGonigal’s book Reality is Broken, she discusses fiero as a pinnacle of pride. Most simply it’s what we feel when we overcome adversity.

Think about Lani’s deadlift. She didn’t celebrate with true fiero because she made the lift. She celebrated because it was difficult, it was elusive, she’ss failed it before, and she made the lift. Trust me there’s no end zone dance after she deadlifts sixty-five pounds.

As McGonigal notes, the simple observation of how similar these celebrations are begins to describe exactly how primal these emotions truly are. We are meant to be exuberant and achieve greatness. Furthermore, this critical element of adversity along the way means that we may also be biologically designed to seek challenges that have obstacles in the way. We need to be challenged to feel ecstasy.

The natural celebration.

The natural celebration.

This innate emotion is what fuels us leave our humble beginnings and climb the ladder of life. I have it. And, you have it.

Since we are hard wired to overcome intentional obstacles in search of a newer, tougher celebration dance, I think you’re in the right place with DEUCE. As you get stronger, faster, and more fit, the challenges come indefinitely. Accomplish one goal and watch two more emerge.

Have you felt this natural emotion recently? I don’t mean the feeling of success, I mean the-governeor-is-off-and-you’re-jumping-for-joy kind of success. If you haven’t, maybe it’s time to seek the opportunity to do so. You’ll need a big goal, plenty of adversity, and the willingness to see it through.

Cue the music!
