Veteran’s Day at DEUCE

On this Veteran’s Day we’d like to give our attention to those that are committed to defending our country in the face of danger. Every single day, men and women are working in harms way. Today especially, we’d like to tip our caps to these service men and women.

The gruesome reality is that some of these men and women don’t come home. Their careers and their duties come with consequences as severe as the ultimate sacrifice. Don’t ever forget that.

In the grand scheme of things, organized fitness and life around the gym is a “cherry on top” of a life that could be much different. I know that I’m grateful and will be sure to recognize today as an opportunity to give thanks to those serving now and those that have served in the past. We will fly the American flag over the gym today in honor of this day.

Furthermore, today’s workout is a hero workout called, “Jack.” It’s named after Army Staff Sergeant Jack M. Martin III, 26, of Bethany, OK. Jack was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Fort Lewis, WA when he died September 29, 2009 in Jojo Island, Phillippines. He was killed in action by an improvised explosive device.

Staff Sergeant Martin is survived by his wife Ashley Martin, his parents Jack and Cheryl Martin, and siblings Abe, Mandi, Amber, and Abi.
