The Call That Never Comes

Everything I am about to say is incredibly obvious. Despite being remarkably obvious, the impact of what I’m about to say is rooted in that fact that this information is rarely considered. As a result, many of you reading this sentence are misinterpreting an important part of reality. So, here goes it.

You don’t receive a call to inform you that you’re being passed up for an opportunity.

Of course, you don’t. That’d be silly. “Hey, Gary. Jim here. Wanted to let you know Susan and I are launching a new projects and a bunch of names came up and we just wanted to let you know, we’re not going to offer anything to ya. Say hey to the family!”

Why am I telling you this? I’m telling you this because it seems like some people catch the break and other people (often our own self) that can’t seem to strike luck in the same way.

My two cents? There are so few quality individuals that get shit done that there isn’t a secret stash of highly qualified people out there that keep getting passed up for opportunity.

The most valuable asset in the world, especially when it comes to assets that make the phone ring with opportunity, is precisely what is said about you when you aren’t in the room. Even the pandemic version of the world is full of opportunity, so if you think you’re unlucky all the time check your premises.
