3/18/15 - Your 2015 Carrot

We’ve talked about dangling a strategic carrot to motivate your training before. As we all know by now, context is everything and sometimes you just need a clear answer for those days when you ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?” bugs bunny

In that way, I’ve heard some incredible goals being floated around the gym. What better time than now to get those goals, no matter how tiny or how audacious, out into the open? You’ll notice the paper announcement board in the lobby has a new look to it. I’d like to invite you all to throw something up on that board in writing that you are chasing in 2015.

Write something small or something monumental, but I bet you’ll be surprised at the motivating power of seeing your desired goal written on paper. Plus, if you’re like me, I’m sure you’ll get a kick out of all the things your peers are chasing as well.

Sound off!

When is the last time you tried to fail? When is the last time you really stepped up to the plate, and gave it every last ounce of gumption you had, knowing that you had not much chance of success, if any, like you jumped off the tower, trying to land on a pillow? It really doesn't sound very exciting at the first look, or ...

Just yesterday multiple students accomplished a very big goal. You see, the most common performance goal we hear during our prospective students' 'Intro Sessions' is to get a pull up. A handful of you just crossed that big hairy goal off the list. Congrats!Critical to successful goal setting, however, is the ability to reev ...

You've got some desire. I get it. I have it too. I want to be stronger and I want to perform better. You have your "wants," as well.Wanting something can fuel the fire and it can stoke ambition, but it doesn't get you from Point A to Point B. My question for you is, "What's the plan?"Arrival at a specific destination requir ...

There’s nothing better than when things are going great, is there? I mean if life isn’t good, we’re trying to make it so. Life, however, never presents steady state rainbows and butterflies. It’s guaranteed to go bad.Yup, even the super rich, the super beautiful, and the super famous have bad days, weeks, months, an ...

Bullshit.I mean, I get the figure of speech, but it rarely works that way. Quite frankly, opportunity often comes as the result of a ton of knocking of your own. Even in the most seemingly supportive examples of this, rarely does opportunity slap someone in the face who is sitting on the coach on their third episode of New ...

Let’s be honest. We’re all judging the heck out of this whole exercise and nutrition experiment. Sure, maybe some (or most of it) is in a surface level, vanity type judgement, but evaluation is important. I mean, no matter what it is, we’ve got to have ways to evaluate how things are going, right? In school it was our ...
