10/23/14 - It’s Supposed to Be Sexy

Good movement is attractive. Once we begin to view gym activities simply as human movement, it’s not too much of a stretch to assume that the natural elements of general movement are equally relevant to fitness movement conversations. One very basic idea of human movement is this aesthetic one that I’m referring to.

It’s in your DNA to move attractively. It’s also in your DNA to seek out good movement.

Whether you’re a coach or not, you’ll be able to see quality movement in others. It’s the reason we think ballet, jungle cats, high flying skateboarders, and elite sprinters are impressive in their expression. The good news is since this is so natural and intuitive we can rest assured that our conversation of human movement isn’t a matter of fitness opinion, but of the ways of our bodies in the world.

Make it look beautiful, athletes!
