Inside “Performance, Community, Lifestyle”

We have a concept at DEUCE Gym that looks much like one that our friends at CrossFit LA had some years ago about the flow of an athlete’s experience here. Our own spin on it has become our motto:

Performance | Community | Lifestyle

Some of you may have seen this before, but it’s worth thinking about in order to maximize your time training with us.

Performance is the flavor of the conversation. We’re a gym, so naturally the conversation is about training, but to stop there would miss much of the DEUCE Gym experience. You see, for us performance starts with coaching. The coaching inside of our GPP program and even inside of our specialty courses is the foundation for our students to improve fitness, body composition, confidence, health, etc. Screen Shot 2014-06-23 at 2.50.29 PM

Now, the simple fact that you’re doing this shoulder to shoulder with other people with similar goals creates an atmosphere for community. If you’ve been here for any substantial amount of time, you know what I mean when I say that the community is the glue that keeps it all together. That community feel is only further magnified with community events, challenges, social interactions, and seminars.

We find that the ripple effect of this performance focus and then the community element on top of that starts to seep into your lifestyle. This is the Holy Grail of any positive change in your life. If you aren’t living it, it’s either temporary or it’s not happening at all. And, the first time you make a choice at the grocery store or about what time you go to sleep based on your connection to improving performance or your involvement in the community, you know this has affected your lifestyle.

If infomercials could bottle it, it would sell for twice the price of gold.

Shockingly, it doesn’t end there. The cycle is continuous. Image what happens to your performance when you begin eating better or sleeping more. Do you see where I’m going with this? As it turns out, everything in the community is more fun when you look, feel, and perform better. And, if that doesn’t reinforce more good lifestyle habits, then I don’t know what does.

‘Round and ’round we go!
