Do You Worship One Eyed Kings?

“In the country of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.”

Don’t be quick to place crowns on the heads of those who have success amongst the unsuccessful. This works across all industries, but the fitness industry is a prime example. Let me be the first to tell you that it’s rough out there. In an industry where that having a product or service that has real utility is completely remarkable, we need to understand what we’re dealing with.

It’s not hard to stand out in the fitness industry. Quite frankly, having the most basic of understanding of movement and professionalism places individuals in this industry in rarified air.

In the quote above is from The Country of the Blind by H. G. Wells and makes reference to his central character who is “the one man who knows he is sick in an civilisation that doesn’t know it is sick.” This is awareness.

We’re aware that being successful in the fitness industry is a bit like doing well in the consolation bracket. When crowning kings, in any discipline, compare winners against winners or you’ll soon find yourself bowing down to one-eyed kings.
