“Excuse me, I have work to do.”

The next time you find yourself in a rut, I got a poem for you:

“I Go Down To The Shore”
By Mary Oliver

I go down to the shore in the morning
and depending on the hour the waves
are rolling in or moving out,
and I say, oh, I am miserable,
what shall—
what should I do? And the sea says
in its lovely voice:
Excuse me, I have work to do.

If you’re ever feeling down, unsure of what to do, and wanting to ask for advice, by all means – you’re not alone. But, I’m actually sharing this poem with you with the intent that you try on the sea’s perspective here.

Three things for you to remember:

  1. Life rips.
  2. You got work to do.
  3. Rumination is a trap best starved with action.

Now back to your business!
